Residents of Volusia County will hear an all too familiar sound that happens around this time every year; that is over 100,000 bikers descending on the World’s Most Famous beach. International Speedway Boulevard will be packed with motorcycle enthusiast revving their engines. Retailers and vendors will be hearing a different noise over this 10 day motorcycle rally, and that is ChaChing!

Believe it or not, Bike Week brings in more revenue to the city then all of speed weeks including the Daytona 500. Researchers from the Halifax Area Advertising Authority found race fans spend around 40 million dollars while bike week attendees spend about 75 million dollars. That is almost double the amount and to me that is simply astonishing. The speedway is currently undergoing a major renovation to attract potential fans with modern accommodations. Even when the speedway’s construction is complete, I think Bike Week will still have speed weeks number bringing in revenue to the area.

Bikers will notice a bunch of new chain restaurants just built this past year on ISB, such as Bahama Breeze, Olive Garden, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Wendy’s, and more. Also, the McDonalds in the K-Mart shopping plaza is brand new; they moved the location a couple of hundred feet down the parking lot.

Over a half of a million people are expected to come down and join the party this week spectating starting March 7th. Head down to the beach and see some classic Harley and Indian motorcycles carving up the sand, or see the latest in cutting edge technology from Suzuki enthusiast.

Deland, Florida has been popular escape for bikers attending this week’s long rally. Downtown Deland offers a home town feel, shopping, and of course caters to Bikers and their essential needs “BEER”. You can avoid I4 and take ISB all the way down. As you know traffic is always an issue, but the memories you make will last you a life time. Also, tourist should be extra careful on the roads and make sure to “Look Twice Save A Life”.
